Perseids Meteor Shower
Don't miss The Perseids Meteor Shower which are visible around the world and occur annually around August 12th. They happen when Earth passes through a cloud of dust left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle, which is called the Perseid cloud. On most nights, the shower will only have a few meteors per hour, but during the peak, you could see 100 or more.
The Perseids are named after the Greek word Perseidai, which refers to the sons of Perseus. In ancient Greek star lore, the shower is said to commemorate the time when Zeus visited Perseus' mother, Danaë, in a shower of gold.
